Every year more than 300,000 babies around the world are born with sickle cell disease. It’s a mutation in the gene for hemoglobin, that’s inherited from both parents. In the U.S. an estimated 100,000 people have it. Boston resident, Dima Hendricks, a brand ambassador for the Greater Boston Sickle Cell Disease Association shares her journey. Her hematologist Dr. Maureen Achabe joins in to discuss managing patient pain.
