Mission Accomplished
It is difficult for individuals with Sickle Cell Anemia to finish college. I did not receive the reasonable accommodations that were offered to other students with disabilities. That is because Sickle Cell is known as "The Silent Disease". Thankfully, The Greater Boston Sickle Cell Disease Association advocated for me. As a result I graduated with a Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling with a Concentration in Health and Wellness.
The Greater Boston Sickle Cell Disease Association needs your support. I want other families that are affected by the disease to flourish as I did.
The Greater Boston Sickle Cell Disease Association, Inc is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to building public awareness of SCD, advocate for patients, and provide programs and services to improve their quality of life.
There are hundreds of families in MA living with the burden of Sickle Cell Disease. Sickle Cell Disease is an inherited blood disorder that affects red blood cells. Sickle Cell Disease can cause severe pain, organ damage and frequent hospitalization.
The Annual Sickle Cell 5K Walk is THE largest source of unrestricted revenue and is used to fund our programs and services and the operating cost of the agency. All of the money raised remains here in our community.
