This year, I had the honor and privilege of becoming a WEGO Health Patient Leader. WEGO Health is a mission-driven company connecting healthcare with the experience, skills and insights of patient leaders. We are the world’s largest network of patient leaders, working across virtually all health conditions and topics. In the words Peter Parker’s (aka Spider-Man) beloved Uncle Ben, “With great power comes great responsibility.” Therefore, it is time for me to be focused on developing and executing my advocacy goals. After much thought and debating, I realized I can only start by sharing my story. It is our survival stories that inspire change. It is my hope that my story spreads the necessary awareness to help fight sickle cell disease.
